Who We Are

A Message from Barb

What I believe is not what I say I believe; what I believe is what I do. ~unknown

If you are reading this newsletter then most likely you are a woman who is Catholic and active or wanting to be active in our Church. You are searching for more from God and our church in some manner, or you probably wouldn’t be looking here! Or maybe you’re not Catholic but are looking for a church home and wanting to know how to get involved. First of all, take a minute to celebrate that! God is obviously working in your life, and you are wanting to connect with others on that journey.

Now I challenge you to ask yourself what He wants out of me next!

Well, if He is wanting you to step out in faith and journey with other women by spending a day in fellowship our diocese has so much to offer over the next month. I hope you will check out some of the events we have going on for women in our diocese! Go to our events page and you will find quite a few March offerings along with information on our 2nd annual Spring Pilgrimage on April 6th. Not to mention the many things going on at the parish level! Wanting to take a deep dive, reach out for some information on the upcoming Women’s Cursillo on May 2nd in Camdenton. Information on all of these events is on our events page.

Have you been feeling the prompt to join a book discussion group? The Spring Book Club suggestions are out and we need women willing to lead them and invite others to join. We are hoping that any women wanting to participate can find a group within driving distance and we hope to have a Zoom version too. We will offer two books geared to mothers as we approach this Mother’s Day series. One is Catholic Mom Calm by Sterling Jaquith. This is a six-week study which reviews six steps to calm the everyday chaos of being a mom with kids under the roof. Our second book is in response to one of the main concerns I hear when visiting women’s groups – children who have left the faith. Our second book, What Would Monica Do?, will encourage women in a similar situation to explore the wisdom of our Catholic faith and offer inspiration and hope to each other. What Mom couldn’t us a little of that. But these will only happen if women like you step up to lead. Go to our Faith formation page for information on leading a study. You need no special talent, and we will walk you through the process if you need help!

Feeling called to serve? Help us out by volunteering to hostess at the upcoming Heart of a Hero Men Men’s Conference at the Cathedral in Jefferson City on the weekend of April 19th and 20th. These are the men that have volunteered and done all the hospitality at our diocesan women’s events so that we would not have to ask women to volunteer. Let’s return the favor and make their day stress free too! Maybe encourage your husband to attend too! A link to volunteer is on our service page.

I know I often have so many good intentions, but I hesitate to pull the trigger and sign up, step out or show up. The day will come, and I feel regret, but I quickly put it aside. If you are feeling the stir don’t ignore it.

That is how the Holy Spirit often speaks – in whispers. And I know I am NEVER sorry when I answer!

Hope to see you out and about in the diocese this month!
