A Message from Barb

Easter proclaims that nothing is impossible with God and that His love can overcome all obstacles. ~St Francis of Assisi

Holy Spirit

I love the 50 days of the Easter season. It is such a joyful reprieve after our Lenten journey of repentance. I do think, however, that I gained a deeper appreciation for it when I began reading the daily Mass readings.

Following the Acts of the Apostles is both inspiring and a powerful reminder of the joys and struggles of the early Church. In many ways, things are so different—yet still the same. History gives us perspective on the unchanging trials of humanity. The details may look different, but the root struggles remain familiar. And yet, it also shows us how we can triumph over them.

In this year dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi, let’s reflect on one of his well-known Easter themes, which is echoed in the readings of Easter Monday.

First: Nothing is Impossible with God

In our first reading, Peter boldly proclaims the Risen Lord on Pentecost. Isn’t this the same Peter who denied Jesus just weeks before? The Resurrection changes everything.

We, too, are given the same Holy Spirit. And doesn’t Jesus tell us:

“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these…” (John 14:12)

He has entrusted us with a mission—and the power to carry it out. We simply need to pick up the torch.

Nothing is impossible with God. That is our Easter message—and our call. This is the perfect season to spend time reflecting on the mission God is inviting you into.

Second: His Love Can Overcome All Obstacles

But perhaps your next thought is like mine: “But I’m not ready… I’m too this or too that… How could I possibly do that?”

God never promised a life without obstacles. But He did promise to be with us—to lighten the burden and help us carry the yoke.

This season is one of hope and joy. Take time to celebrate it. Rest in it. And lean into it.

And of course, we have opportunities to walk this journey together:

Join us for our Spring Pilgrimage.
Dust off your crown and step into your role as a daughter of the King. Spending a day with other women of faith in prayer, inspiration, and fellowship can strengthen and encourage your journey.

Start our new book study on prayer and St. Teresa of Avila.
Growing in faith alongside other women is a beautiful way to deepen your relationship with God.

Step into service.
Explore opportunities within our ministry or in your parish. From my own experience, some of life’s most meaningful friendships are formed in service.

So embrace this Easter season and the joy of the Resurrection!

I hope to see you on the 25th.
