Jeff & Patty Fennewald

Why did you remember the Diocese of Jefferson City or your parish in your estate plan?

My wife, Patty, and I were chair couple of the "Grateful Memories, Faithful Futures" campaign. Suggested donations were asked of the parishioners for the campaign. Being the chair couple we wanted to try to fulfill the amount that was suggested by the campaign.

How did you remember the Diocese of Jefferson City and your local parish in your estate plans?

Since the amount that was suggested was not feasible in our budget, we decided to purchase a life insurance policy on myself with the diocese the beneficiary of the policy. This enabled us to make a large pledge to the campaign and keep the donation within our budget. We prepaid the policy with the amount we could afford and can continue to contribute to the policy when the prepay is concluded. The policy continues to grow in size and if I should die in the near term, the diocese will receive the death benefit and any amount left in the prepay.

What would you say to encourage others to consider remembering the Diocese of Jefferson City or their local parish in their estate plan?

We feel that our parish and diocese is part of our family. This family has supported and prayed for us during good times and bad. We owe this family more then we can ever repay. We try to return this love that we have received by the works that we do in the parish and diocese. By remembering your parish or diocese in your estate planning, you can continue to contribute to Christ's mission long after you have left this world.
