The Diocese of Jefferson City thoroughly investigates all reports of abuse of minors and vulnerable adults, financial impropriety or other misconduct.

We urge anyone who is a victim or witness of any misconduct to use one of the two avenues on this page to make a report — either through calling the abuse reporting contacts below, or leaving a message on the diocesan whistleblower hotline for financial, human resources or other concerns.

Whistleblower Hotline — 573.635.0386

Anyone with a concern about misconduct at any entity within the Diocese of Jefferson City is urged to call our diocesan whistleblower hotline at 573.635.0386.

This hotline covers financial misconduct, human resources issues and any other concerns that should be investigated and addressed.

Hotline callers will be asked to leave a voicemail message. The message will immediately be sent by email to three people — once Chancery employee and two laypeople who are not employees of the diocese. The three will confer and ensure the issue is properly investigated.

Any concerns that may involve illegal conduct should be immediately forwarded to law enforcement.

List of Credibly Accused Clergy

A list of clergy and religious brothers who have served in the Diocese of Jefferson City and who have been credibly accused of actions which were in violation of the Charter for The Protection of Children and Young People (“Charter”), or which would have constituted a violation of the Charter if the Charter had been in effect, was first published on Nov. 8, 2018.

The list has been updated on Dec. 16, 2018, Aug. 1, 2019, July 2, 2020, October 12, 2020, March 12, 2021, Jan 10, 2022, Aug. 22, 2022, Sept. 2, 2022, Jan. 24, 2023, May 19, 2023, May 30, 2023 and Sept. 11, 2023.

Audit Letter of Compliance

Catholic Bishop Abuse Reporting Service

The Catholic Bishop Abuse Reporting Service has been established to receive reports of sexual abuse and related misconduct by bishops and to relay those reports to proper Church authorities for investigation. Where a report includes a crime, such as the sexual abuse of a minor, it will also be reported to civil authorities. Otherwise, reports will be kept confidential.

If you have any other kind of complaint about a bishop—such as parish assignments, church closings, or homily contents—please address those directly to your diocesan or eparchial bishop instead. Sexual abuse by a priest, deacon or a staff member or volunteer of the Catholic Church should be reported to the Victim Assistance Coordinator in your local diocese/eparchy.
