Catholic Campaign for Human Development

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development is a unique and successful anti-poverty program of the U.S. Catholic bishops.  Based on the principles of empowerment and self-help, it provides financial and technical assistance to low-income community groups seeking institutional change in the social, political and economic arenas.

In over a 40-year period, our diocesan CCHD dollars have funded more than 250 organizations in the Diocese of Jefferson City that fight poverty.

Funds are raised through an annual collection and through donations from individuals and parishes, and the diocese retains 25% for use here.

A diocesan advisory committee makes annual funding recommendations to the Bishop of Jefferson City.

Grant applications are accepted during January and February each year.
