Weekend Mass Attendance Survey (October count)
The Diocese has involved itself in a common pastoral practice across the United States known as the ‘October Count.’ The month of October provides a time when attendance is a good indicator of average attendance. This is a practical tool for pastoral planning.
Each parish is asked to provide the total attendance at all Masses for the first four weeks of October, using this web page or a form mailed to the parish office.
This web page allows a parish to record all data in one form. You can save the information entered each week and will receive a link allowing you to return to the same form for the next week. Or, enter all the information at the end of October.
The exact process used for the weekend count is determined by each individual pastor/pastoral administrator. Please count all people (including children and infants) who enter into the church at each Mass for the month with the count ending at or about the First Reading. In smaller churches it may be simpler for the ushers/hospitality ministers to discretely make the count during the homily. Also, please remember to count all ministers who serve at the Altar as well. If you have any questions on this matter, please contact Monsignor Robert Kurwicki, VG, here at the Chancery.
If your parish is providing weekend Masses online (either live or posting later), please also list average total views for each channel, such as Facebook, YouTube, your website, etc.
NOTE: To list either more Masses or more channels, click on the + sign. If you have any difficulties with this form, please contact anyone in the Communications Office by calling 573-635-9127.
