Jointly hosted by the Shrine and the Mary, Mother of the Church Knights of Columbus Council 10381 with Bishop Shawn McKnight presiding.
The Shrine on this day gives thanks to our Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God and proclaims His greatness with due praise as we honor the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mary accompanies His pilgrim Church with a mother’s love and watches in kindness over the Church’s homeward steps.
This feast, celebrated on the Monday after Pentecost, reminds us that on Pentecost Day, Mary began to exercise on earth the spiritual motherhood to which she had been raised at the foot of the cross. In Nazareth, the Holy Spirit consecrated Mary “Mother of God”, while in the Cenacle at Pentecost He invested her as “Mother of the Church”.
