Immaculate Conception School to Break Ground on New K–8 Facility
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (April 10, 2026) — Immaculate Conception Parish and School invite the community to celebrate the official groundbreaking for Visioning IC: Breaking Ground, Building Dreams, on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the construction area of McCarty Plaza.
The new 49,150-square-foot facility will serve grades K–8, housing a media center, art, vocal music and resource rooms, counseling offices, and administrative spaces. Construction, led by Curtiss-Manes-Schulte, Inc. with design by SOA Architecture, Inc., is expected to be complete by June 2027, in time for classes to begin in Fall 2027.
“This new school means our IC students and families today will benefit from a safe, modern, and faith-filled environment designed to support learning, strengthen community, and deepen their relationship with Christ—right now and for years to come,” said Heather Schrimpf, principal of IC School.
Founded in 1914 by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, Immaculate Conception School currently serves 310 students; the new building will accommodate up to 450 K–8 students and 50 Pre-K students. The project marks Phase 1 of the parish’s long-term campus plan and capital campaign, Visioning IC, which seeks to raise $40 million across three phases. Nearly 90% of the Phase 1 goal ($18.17 million) has already been raised.
“This expansion is an investment in our future—providing our students with the safe space to grow and learn, our families with a vibrant school community, and our parish with a renewed commitment to forming young people in the faith,” Schrimpf added.
Speakers at the ceremony will include Bishop Ralph O’Donnell, Fr. Matthew Flatley, Architect Nick Borgmeyer, and Shawn Schulte of Curtiss-Manes-Schulte, Inc. Invited guests include Senator Mike Bernskoetter, Representatives Rudy Veit and Dave Griffith, Commissioner Sam Buschman, and Mayor Ron Fitzwater.
“We are grateful for the support and endorsement of the Diocese of Jefferson City and Bishop O’Donnell,” said Fr. Flatley. “This milestone reflects both our parish’s enduring legacy and its forward-looking vision for Catholic education in Jefferson City.”
Members of the media are welcome to attend and photograph the event.

Let us Pray
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle...
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into Hell Satan and all evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.
