Message from Bishop O’Donnell – Holy Hour for Peace
“As a step toward healing and hope rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I invite the
faithful of the Diocese of Jefferson City to join me for a Holy Hour for Peace at our
mother church, the Cathedral of St. Joseph. Together, united before the Lord in the
Eucharist, we will pray for reconciliation where there is division, for justice where human
dignity has been diminished, and for consolation for all burdened by fear, loss, or uncertainty.
The message of the Gospel compels us to be peacemakers—to reflect the mercy of
Christ and to entrust our hearts to his Sacred Heart. I encourage our priests and parish
communities across the diocese to join in this effort by offering times of adoration and
prayer for peace in their own parishes and chapels.
May this Holy Hour strengthen our faith in God’s providence and renew our commitment
to live as witnesses to the truth and charity of the Gospel. With confidence that our Lord
hears the cry of his people, let us come together in prayer, asking him to make us
instruments of his peace and heralds of healing for our Church, our communities, and
our world.” - Bishop Ralph B. O’Donnell

Lenten Regulations
2026 Lenten Regulations and Admonitions
As another Lenten journey of conversion begins on Ash Wednesday, February 18, 2026 and ends with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday, April 3, 2026, the Catholic Church calls all Catholics to a deeper spirit of penance, fasting, almsgiving and prayer, “which express conversion in relation to oneself, to God, and to others” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, nos. 1434 and 1969).
To foster a greater spirit of penance, reparation for sin, to encourage self-denial, which guide us more closely in the footsteps of Christ, the Church reminds us of the following obligations of fast and abstinence during Lent, and also admonishes us all to deeper prayer and worship.
Divorce Support Facilitator Training
Do you serve divorced or separated Catholics—or feel called to? Join us for a Divorce Support Facilitator Training Day on Saturday, March 7, at the Alphonse J. Schwartze Memorial Catholic Center.
Featuring Vince Frese, founder of Divorced Catholic, this half-day training will equip parish leaders and volunteers with the tools, clarity, and compassion needed to accompany others through divorce with faith and hope.
Help us grow this needed ministry in our diocese. The Faith Formation and Evangelization Office will be happy to support facilitators wanting to offer this program in parishes with the approval of your pastor. Training is ideal for current or future facilitators of Catholic divorce support groups.

Let us Pray
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle...
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into Hell Satan and all evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.
