Update from Safe Environment
As the school year starts, the Missouri Children’s Division sent out this reminder about reporting child abuse and neglect.
Online System for Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting
As we head into another school year, it’s important to remember that teachers and professionals working with children are mandated by law to report suspected child abuse and/or neglect to the Missouri Department of Social Services Children’s Division.
Any suspected child abuse or neglect must be reported directly to the Children’s Division. If you suspect child abuse or neglect, you are encouraged to err on the side of caution and make a report. If you’re not sure if you should make a report– do! Children’s Division team members review each report and are trained to determine the most appropriate way to respond.
Making a Report
If the child you are concerned about is in immediate danger of sexual abuse, severe physical abuse or neglect, is suicidal, or is living in an active meth lab, please call 911 and then report the incident to the Online System for Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting (OSCR) or by calling the Child Abuse & Neglect Hotline at 1-800-392-3738.
To access OSCR please visit https://apps.dss.mo.gov/OnlineCanReporting/default.aspx - this will take you directly to the online reporting system. Bookmark this webpage for easy access when needing to make a report.
It’s important to note that online reports are constantly reviewed. Making a report online:
- Keeps the Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline open for additional calls
- Helps you avoid wait time on the hotline
- Offers a convenient, flexible option to report
- Allows you to report no matter where you are
- Fulfills your legal requirement to make a report
- Allows you to save up to 5 reports for 72 hours
NOTE: When making a report online, please be sure to provide as much information as possible.
Creating Your Account
To learn how to report online or how to create your account, visit DSS' Mandated Reporters webpage. Creating an account today means you will always be ready to make report when needed.
If you have already created an account, but your credentials have changed, please go into your account profile and make any necessary changes. Our team members are unable to update your profile information.
If you require assistance with your online account, contact our Help Desk at the numbers below.
- For password assistance - 800-392-8727, Option 1
- For application assistance - 800-392-8725, Option 3
Thank you for your commitment to keeping children safe.
The Safe Environment Policy for the Diocese of Jefferson City also requires mandated reporters to report allegations of child abuse to the appropriate authorities. Paragraph V of the policy states:
- COMMUNICATION OF REPORTING INFORMATION
All Catholic institutions in the diocese must make safe environment compliance requirements and the following information readily available to employees, volunteers and all other individuals.
MISSOURI DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT HOTLINE NUMBER
1-800-392-3738 (for Missouri residents)
1-573-751-3448 (for those outside Missouri)
Additionally, if anyone – victim, parent, employee, and/or volunteer – needs to report past or current allegations of sexual abuse by a member of the clergy or by lay employees or volunteers of the diocese, the person should contact Mrs. Jacqueline Baldwin, Victim Assistance Coordinator. Ms. Baldwin can be reached at 573-694-3199 or reportabuse@diojeffcity.org

Upcoming Events in Faith Formation
Let us Pray
In the name of the Father...
As we await the appointment of the next Bishop of Jefferson City, we invite our parishes and faithful to join us in prayer.
For our diocese as we await the appointment of a new Bishop and for Msgr. Kurwicki as he serves as diocesan administrator in the interim.
Let us pray to the Lord.

Prayer for a new Bishop:
O God, eternal shepherd,
who govern your flock with unfailing care,
grant in your boundless fatherly love
a pastor for your Church
who will please you by his holiness
and to us show watchful care.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever. Amen.Excerpt from the English translation of The Roman Missal © 2010 International Commission on English in the Liturgy Corporation. All rights reserved.

Discovering God's hope during a Year of Jubilee
This holy year invites the faithful to embrace the spirit of hope. As we embark on this year of Jubilee, there will be numerous opportunities to experience grace, including by participating in special Jubilee Masses or joining a pilgrimage.
There are several new materials available to parishes, including branded assets, promotional materials, a pilgrimage passport and other handouts for parishioners. Please help us promote these unique opportunities throughout the year!
We encourage you to get started with our parish guide to the 2025 Jubilee Year. This guide includes information on how you can get involved as a parish, what resources are available, and ideas for creating Jubilee events at your parish.
This folder will be updated with resources throughout the year. Please continue to check the Monday Morning Memo for new updates!
