Decree of Delegation of the Faculty to Administer Confirmation During the Vacant See

Whereas, since May 27, 2025 the Diocese of Jefferson City has been a vacant see, and;
Whereas, on June 2, 2025 the College of Consultors canonically elected the Diocesan Administrator to serve as Ordinary of the Diocese of Jefferson City during the vacant see, and;
Whereas, in accordance with art. 240 of the Directory for the Pastoral Ministry of Bishops Apostolorum Successores, the Diocesan Administrator may administer the sacrament of confirmation and may delegate this faculty, and;
Whereas, it would be gravely inconvenient for the Diocesan Administrator to personally administer the sacrament of confirmation throughout the entirety of the Diocese of Jefferson City;
Therefore, I hereby delegate to all pastors and parochial administrators in the Diocese of Jefferson City the faculty to administer the sacrament of confirmation within the territory of their parish(es).
This delegation is effective immediately and shall last until the next Bishop of Jefferson City takes possession of the diocese or until revoked by competent authority.
