Particular Law Implementing the Revised Order of Christian Initiation of Adults in the Diocese of Jefferson City

Whereas, the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)was canonically approved by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops on 17 November 2021, subsequently granted recognitio by the Apostolic See on 14 February 2024, and promulgated 31 March 2024;

Whereas, the National Statutes of the Christian Initiation of Adults were approved by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops on 15 November 2023, subsequently granted recognitio by the Apostolic See on 9 January 2024, and promulgated on 25 April 2024;

Whereas, these laws revised and reordered the practice of the former Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults process and took effect 1 December 2024; and

Whereas, in order to fully and faithfully implement the new OCIA process in the Diocese of Jefferson City after the proper formation of those responsible, and appropriate collaboration with the diocesan Evangelization and Faith Formation Department and the Chairman of the Diocesan Liturgical Commission, I have created a timeline for the implementation of the newly translated ritual and revised statutes;

Now, therefore, I

DECREE

that the attached letter establishing the timeline of implementation of the OCIA shall be promulgated by being published on the diocesan website and shall take effect immediately, all things to the contrary notwithstanding.
