Official email addresses for deacons

The Diocese of Jefferson City has issued new email addresses to all deacons. The email addresses provided to deacons are the same official @diojeffcity.org addresses used by priests, seminarians and Chancery staff.

The deacons have all been given the credentials needed to access their new accounts.

Moving forward, we are asking that all communications to and from deacons relating to their service to the Church utilize their new diocesan email accounts. We are phasing out communications to the deacons’ prior email addresses, which were largely personal accounts or accounts tied to their employers.

Contact information for deacons is available here: https://diojeffcity.org/deacons/

Announcing the 2024 Catholic Stewardship Renewal Theme

The theme for the 2024 Catholic Stewardship Renewal is:

“Without cost you have received, without cost you are to give.”  Matthew 10: 8b.

This verse comes from the Commissioning of the Twelve in Matthew 10: 5-15.  Jesus sends his disciples out to find and help the lost sheep, proclaiming ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’  They are to “cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, drive out demons.”

And why are they being called to do this?  Because we were created in the image of God and are all called to be his hands and feet to love and serve the Lord using the gifts he has given us.  Jesus sends his disciples to teach the way to salvation.  Without cost we have received God’s love and grace. Therefore, we are also called to give to others without cost.

As we enter this season of Catholic Stewardship Renewal, may we each seek the Lord and discern how we can pray more, actively participate in the life of our parish families and the universal Church, and sacrificial give our first fruits to support the work of the Gospel. Commitment weekend for our diocesan Catholic Stewardship Renewal is October 19-20, 2024.  Please visit the diojeffcity.org/stewardship to learn more or contact Patricia Lutz, director of stewardship at plutz@diojeffcity.org.

“We met at the parish picnic”

Parish picnics and fall festivals are long and storied traditions in parishes throughout the Diocese of Jefferson City. They’re also great opportunities to meet people.

The editor of The Catholic Missourian would like to interview married couples who met at parish picnics and are now active in their parishes.

This could become a happy and uplifting story for the paper if enough people respond and share their stories.

Contact Jay Nies at editor@diojeffcity.org (subject line: “met at parish picnics”) or at 573-635-9127.

Women’s Conference of Healing and Forgiveness

We all have something in our lives that is broken — that needs to be mended, fixed or healed. When we turn to Jesus and align our hearts and minds with Him and trust in His mercy, He comes to us and wraps His arms lovingly around us. He gently reminds us that “together, we can fix this!” Christ can heal broken relationships with God, broken relationships with others and broken parts of ourselves. Come join us to experience Jesus’ Divine Mercy through His Healing and Forgiveness which is freely offered to all. The 3-day Women’s Conference of Healing and Forgiveness, entitled “Women of Hope,” will be held September 5-7, 2024 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lenexa, Kansas.
