In order to provide clarity for the retired priests of the Diocese of Jefferson City, and to facilitate appropriate planning by those not yet retired, the Priest Retirement Policy has been drawn up in consultation with the Presbyteral Council, the Vicar for Priests, the Director of Human Resources, and the Chief Financial Officer of the diocese. This policy is intended to codify the existing expectations and rules surrounding priests’ retirement and to provide comprehensive guidance to all active priests so they can appropriately plan for their future retirement. I therefore

DECREE

that this Priest Retirement Policy for the Diocese of Jefferson City be promulgated by being published on the Diocesan website, and that it will take effect on 1 July 2024, all things contrary notwithstanding.
