Catholic Stewardship Renewal resources

As our parishes begin the Catholic Stewardship Renewal, the Diocese of Jefferson City is providing a number of resources that help explain the spirituality of stewardship and the call to commit ourselves to our parishes at this time.

This week, the diocese is sharing six short videos intended to help explain and promote the Catholic Stewardship Renewal. These videos can be downloaded and shared on social media or used in other settings. Click here to access the video files.

Ron Vossen appointed President of Helias Catholic High School

The Most Reverend W. Shawn McKnight, Bishop of Jefferson City, has appointed Ron Vossen as president of Helias Catholic High School. The appointment comes with the support of the school’s advisory council and at the recommendation of its board of directors.

Vossen had been serving as interim president since May. He was previously the Helias Catholic director of alumni relations, a role he assumed following a 43-year career in teaching and administration at the school.

“I thank Bishop McKnight and our school community for placing their trust in my leadership at this exciting time in our school’s history,” said Vossen. “As we move forward together, I want to invite our students, teachers, staff, families, alumni, and partner parishes and schools to unite in spirit as we build on Helias Catholic’s traditions of faith and pursuit of excellence.”

Matrimonial Tribunal Office closed this week

The Matrimonial Tribunal Office will be closed for vacation from Monday, October 9, through Friday, October 13.

If your parish needs more 2% envelopes please click here to order more. The 2% envelopes are offered as a way to help our faithful as they move forward in their personal growth during our process of stewardship renewal.

It is important to remember that the biblical tithe is 10%.  As all of our parishes move forward in the stewardship way of life, we are asking each Catholic individual and family to prayerfully tithe 8% of their first fruits to their parish and 2% to charities of their choice which promote the common good through Catholic values.

These envelopes address the 2% piece of the equation.

For any parishioner already giving in support of their 2% obligation, these envelopes are not intended to change those giving practices.

But some parishioners may wish to contribute to a charity, national collection or in support of a disaster relief effort using these 2% envelopes. When donations are made via these new envelopes, the parish supports them in making these gifts by forwarding the contributions to the correct recipient.
