Decree Implementing Facility Naming Policy

In order to provide clear direction and achieve a uniform application of rules concerning the naming of facilities, and after consulting the Council of Deans, the Presbyteral Council, the Diocesan Pastoral Council, and the Superintendent of Schools, I now wish to implement the following norms for the Diocese of Jefferson City.

Thank you from the MidWest March for Life

The MidWest March for Life Team wishes to thank first of all God for His blessings and fantastic weather and the Holy Spirit for inspiring so many to come to MidWest March for Life. Jesus was certainly honored with the over 2,000 people who attended the annual April 26 event at the Missouri State Capitol. Thank you, Father Viviano, Prolife Moderator of the Diocese, who started the day with the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet. Bishop McKnight opened the rally with remarks and prayer followed by national and local prolife leaders who spoke the Life Message. The Knights of Columbus of St. Peter Fulton supplied, prepared, and donated all of the funds raised from their hot dog lunch. St. Peter was a gracious host with the facilities of Selinger Center available for the team and for those who wished to eat inside the building. There were so many volunteers who deserve our thanks, who kept things running smoothly from many parishes in the area and were there at 6:30 am sharp! So many exhibitors including Vitae, Columbia 40 Days For Life, and Birthright shared their ministry and thanks to Thomas More Society, who donated 2,000 backpacks filled by volunteers with prolife literature including the booklet, “Why I am Prolife” which was given out during the day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. It was a beautiful day, and we were so pleased to see so many youth filling the space from schools all over the state. A special treat was the Helias Drum Line who performed magnificently as they led the March through the streets of Jefferson City. Thank you to those parish schools who sent students for the largest prolife event in the state. Many thanks from Mike and Kathy Forck, St. Andrew Prolife Committee who sponsor this event each year. Please mark your calendar for May 1, 2024, for the 15th Annual MidWest March for Life.
