Communications and Catholic University appeal

The diocese is taking a special collection June 4-5 for the communication efforts of the church and for Catholic University of America, which was founded by the bishops of the United States to be the national university for the Catholic Church. Please use the graphics below or Spanish and English promotional material available from the USCCB.

For those parishes in the stewardship way of life, please add the following text to any promotional material: Thank you for your generosity above and beyond your parish tithe for these appeals. Your additional contributions (part of your 2% tithe beyond your 8% tithe to your parish) can make a difference for these efforts.

OneLicense licensing agreement

As a reminder, to those parishes using the OneLicense group agreement for congregational music, please continue to log in to your account on a regular basis to inform OneLicense of the music used, so they can compensate the artists and publishers accordingly. There are no limits regarding how many titles you can use or how often you use a particular title. Please also comply with US copyright law in publishing the copyright owners and our license information with any publication of the music or text, whether in print or online. Please use the following form to create your unique copyright line (from OneLicense):

Words: John Doe, © 1988 ABC Music Co.; Music: Jane Doe, © 1990 XYZ Publications. Reprinted with permission under ONE LICENSE #A-xxxxxxx. All rights reserved.

If words and music are by the same composer, you may combine these lines. This information must be typed into your worship aid, bulletin, slideshow, etc., but the location (after each song, beginning, end, etc.) is up to you. The copyright symbol (circle with the C in the middle) can be created by typing (c) into your program or option G on your keyboard. You must include your ONE LICENSE license number with any reprint or projection. Simply replace the “x” with the appropriate number.

Pastors, parish secretaries or other official parish representatives are encouraged to notify the editor of the time, date and location of any Corpus Christi processions or similar observances planned for on or near that date. Information can be sent to Jay Nies, editor.

Food pantry volunteers needed

The Catholic Charities Food Pantry in Jefferson City is open four days each week for neighbors to visit and shop for fresh produce, meat, dairy and center-aisle food items. Because our pantry functions like a grocery store, many hands are helpful in stocking shelves, checking in pantry members, and checking-out groceries. We are actively looking for volunteers with a passion for serving their neighbors during open pantry hours and groups interested in a day of service. Interested? Please contact Lori Stoll to learn more or set up time for a tour of the pantry and an idea of what volunteering at CCCNMO could look like for you or your group.

Tribunal

The Tribunal will be closed for vacation on Thursday, June 2 and Friday, June 3.

Liturgical resources for Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ

The bishops of the United States are calling for a three-year grassroots revival of devotion and belief in the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. The Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions offers the following resource for use this year with the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. It includes a preparation list, music suggestions and sample intercessions for the Mass of the Solemnity; the protocols for a eucharistic process; prayers, Scripture and music suggestions for adoration and exposition, and more. The ICEL and USCCB have granted permission to share their copyrighted material and FDLC has given permission to share the resource widely. Please contact Father Dan Merz, diocesan liturgical commission chair, with questions.

Celebration of feast of Immaculate Heart of Mary on Sunday, June 26

To encourage a greater participation in the celebration of the patronal feast day of our diocese, Bishop McKnight has mandated the transfer of the Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary from Saturday June 25, 2022 to Sunday June 26, 2022, replacing the 13th Sunday of Ordinary Time.  As in previous years, to help with your parish’s celebration of this feast, suggested Scripture readings for the day in English and Spanish, and the responsorial psalm with a musical setting can be downloaded from the link below.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Father Dan Merz.

One theme constant in our pastoral planning is the desire to engage our young people more in the faith. We’re excited to offer a cadre of opportunities for middle school and high school students, with an emphasis on friendship and joyful fun. Camp Lolek (a childhood nickname of Saint John Paul II) is new this year. Please use the graphics available through the download link below (find the folder labeled “Youth Camps 2022”) to promote Camp Lolek, Camp Maccabee, Camp Siena and CHRISTpower. Dates, registration forms and other information are on our website.
