Bishop’s messages
Recently I have been in India. You can find pictures and more information on the visit on our diocesan Facebook page, @DioJeffCity. We’ll also be using social media to provide regular updates from my ad limina visit to the Holy See this month.

Effective January 1, 2020, the IRS has lowered the mileage reimbursement rate to $0.575 per mile. The diocesan rate coincides with the IRS rate, so any mileage incurred on or after Jan. 1, 2020 will be at the new rate. The mileage rate for volunteers is unchanged, remaining at $0.14/mile. Please contact Chief Financial Officer Joseph Braddock with any questions.
Please join us in congratulating LeAnn Korsmeyer, the new Director of Parish and Charitable Services for the Diocese. She is assuming many of the responsibilities previously held by Sr. Kathleen Wegman, and continuing the diocesan Women’s Ministry. Please also join us in thanking Pat Reinkemeyer, who is retiring after more than 14 years of service in the Chancery. Also, please welcome two new administrative assistants to the Chancery: Vickie McElwaine, who will serve as a “floater,” and Brooke Colen, who will provide assistance to Mrs. Korsmeyer and Brad Copeland, who supports parishes facilities and maintenance efforts.
Feed the Hungry: Want to put your faith into action? The diocesan Women’s Ministry is coordinating feeding the hungry with Salvation Army of Jefferson City. All are welcomed to participate, not just women! Teams of eight to 10 are being formed to provide a dinner meal for the homeless at the Salvation Army in Jefferson City. Each team will create the menu, provide and serve the meal to approximately 100 people. For more information, check out this link.
Employment opportunities: The Diocese of Jefferson City is seeking a receptionist. You can find the full posting here. Thank you for promoting this in your parish communications. There are also several openings in our Catholic schools, including for a math teacher at Father Tolton Catholic High School. Please also promote these openings.

Erin Boeckmann has assumed the responsibility of maintaining the diocesan database of parishioners for diocesan appeals, The Catholic Missourian and other communications. Parishes are asked to use this form to send any updates of their parishioners.

- How to identify email and text scams.
- In the interest of time and accuracy, The Catholic Missourian has moved to a simple online process for submitting events for the Things to Do page. To have an event considered for publication in Things to Do and in the diocesan online events calendar, go to diojeffcity.org/event-listing and follow the directions. The process is straightforward and user-friendly. Events submitted for display advertising will be automatically included in Things to Do, as will items that have been previously submitted.

Protecting God’s Children workshops
The Catholic Church in the United States is committed to providing safe environments in all of our ministries and activities, especially those involving children and youth. One aspect of our commitment is that anyone who works with minors in our parishes, schools and other Catholic organizations in the Diocese of Jefferson City receive training. The 11th annual National Winter Chant Conference will be held Jan. 20-24 at Saint Meinrad Archabbey, St. Meinrad, Indiana. This is the single best week and the single best place for learning the new English chants for the Sunday parish Mass, its spirituality, and role in the prayer of the Liturgy.
