Bishop’s messages
December 13 is the 50th anniversary of Pope Francis’ priestly ordination. Please remember him in your liturgies that day and use the resources from the USCCB for your social media. An email with liturgical resources has been sent to pastors, deacons and parish life coordinators.

Job openings: the Diocese of Jefferson City is seeking a full time administrative assistant. You can find the full posting here. Thank you for promoting this in your parish communications. There are also several openings in our Catholic schools, including for a math teacher at Father Tolton Catholic High School. Please also promote these openings.
The Chancery offices will be closed the following days through the end of the year: the afternoon of Dec. 24, Dec. 25, Dec. 26, and the afternoon of Dec. 31.
The National Association of Pastoral Musicians has asked us to help them better assess the field of pastoral music ministry in the Catholic Church in the United States today. To that end, they have prepared a brief, 14-question survey. It is intended for pastors and directors of music ministry; the responders do not need to be members of NPM. The responses to the survey will help NPM continue serving both all pastoral musicians and Catholic parishes. The survey is available in both English and Spanish through the following link: https://npm.org/npm-pastoral-music-ministry-survey/. Please be sure your parish music ministers have access to this survey.
Phyllis White of Fertility Care is available to do a one- or two-hour presentation, “O Beauty Ever Ancient, O Beauty Ever New: Church Teaching and Live Giving Love,” to answer today’s questions for all ages about church teaching regarding contraception, NFP and life-giving love. The presentation is appropriate for marriage preparation, high school, confirmation, RCIA, clergy or parish staff. The presentation can be adopted to the needs of the group. - In the interest of time and accuracy, The Catholic Missourian has moved to a simple online process for submitting events for the Things to Do page. To have an event considered for publication in Things to Do and in the diocesan online events calendar, go to diojeffcity.org/event-listing and follow the directions. The process is straightforward and user-friendly. Events submitted for display advertising will be automatically included in Things to Do, as will items that have been previously submitted.

Protecting God’s Children workshops
The Catholic Church in the United States is committed to providing safe environments in all of our ministries and activities, especially those involving children and youth. One aspect of our commitment is that anyone who works with minors in our parishes, schools and other Catholic organizations in the Diocese of Jefferson City receive training. St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City will host a presentation by Sister of Charity of the Incarnate Word Ana Luisa Prieto Valdez on Our Lady of Guadalupe on Dec. 12, 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Selinger Center, 216 Broadway. Sr. Ana Luisa is from Chihuahua, Mexico and has been very involved in education and in indigenous and farmer ministries. Currently a volunteer at El Puente Hispanic Ministry in Jefferson City, she holds a doctoral degree in social anthropology from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City.
The 11th annual National Winter Chant Conference will be held Jan. 20-24 at Saint Meinrad Archabbey, St. Meinrad, Indiana. This is the single best week and the single best place for learning the new English chants for the Sunday parish Mass, its spirituality, and role in the prayer of the Liturgy.
