What Is Engaged Encounter?

It is a weekend with other engaged couples where an atmosphere is created in which each couple can concentrate exclusively on one another, free of the tensions, pressures, and interruptions of the world. It is designed to give engaged couples the opportunity to discuss honestly their future lives together - their strengths and weaknesses, desires, ambitions, goals, their attitude about money, sex, family, children, their role in the church and society - in a face to face way. Engaged Encounter is designed to deepen and enrich your relationship with each other. Interfaith couples and those entering a second marriage can also benefit from this weekend.

What Happens at an Encounter?

A team of married couples and a priest give a series of presentations. Each presentation allows you and your fiancé an opportunity to look at yourselves as individuals, then to look at your relationship with one another, and finally to look at your relationship with God, the church, and the world. Personal reflection and discussion are the main focus of the weekend. Communal meals and Sunday liturgy provide group participation.

When?

Engaged Encounters are held on various weekends throughout the year. The dates for these weekends are listed at the bottom of this page.

Reservations are limited. Email confirmation or confirmation card is sent to each couple after the registration form is received. Each couple also receives a letter prior to the weekend with the details of the Engaged Encounter. The encounter weekend begins on Friday evening at 7:00 pm and concludes on Sunday by 4:00 pm.

Where?

Weekends are held on the grounds of St. Pius X Church in Moberly, Missouri.

What Is the Cost?

$100.00 per couple includes meals and lodging. A $25.00 deposit made payable to Engaged Encounter is required. Please include the deposit with your registration form. The balance is due on arrival at the weekend.
